How a Simple Household Fix Became A Surprising Victory

Let’s talk about flow for a moment. Getting in the flow, being in the flow, what does any of that even mean? And how can we tell that we’re flowing?
I picture it as a type of synchronicity, that despite whatever goals that haven’t yet been met, life is clicking and you feel all is right with your world in that moment.
Imagine a lovely stream somewhere, and the water is making its own music, bouncing along, dipping into every hole, rushing around and over the rocks. The water doesn’t remain level. It moves up, down, creates mini whirlpools, depending on what it meets along the way. The water doesn’t stop, though. It’s always flowing forward.
Speaking of water, not too long ago, I needed to repair a drip irrigation line. YouTube is my go-to for small DIYs, and it looked like something I could do. But I let my uptight Virgo self kick in, which made it so much harder than it needed it to be. Sigh. Eventually, the job got done with the use of a plastic piece called a coupler (who knew?), which connects two ends of a cut hose to reestablish the water flow.
Hold on to that thought for a moment.
On the heels of that task, a smoke detector in my home also needed replacing. After two days of over-thinking and countless how-to videos while confronting the childhood angst that this hurdle dredged up from the deepest dark space, I learned about a nifty tool—omg, an adapter!—that would easily make incompatible wiring compatible.
But get this. With a little help from a friend, I grasped a deeper meaning. Could it be that with the right tool—an adapter, gotta love 'em—I had plugged into a universal energy source? That I had powered up my game? Ready to run on all systems? You get the picture. Similar to my experience with the irrigation repair, my emotional shift opened a main line. To what remains to be seen, but oh what a grand feeling it is just considering the possibilities!
My narrative wasn’t meant to be lessons in household repairs, but rather that you can absolutely find symbolism in the minutiae of daily living; signs that confirm you’re doing something right, moving in the right direction, and maybe even healing something inside of you. So bask in the small wins that affirm you're flowing in the juice.
Even when you don’t ask for them directly, the green lights, you know, the go-aheads, are all around you just waiting to be noticed.
Life is good.

Hurray Regina. The mystical ways we learn our lessons, receive clarity and overcome fears and abandonment. Keep writing and sharing your gifts with the world and remember to wear your sturdy reliable shoes when you climb your own inner Mt. Everest.
You got this!
